NPR : 'Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer'
This is exactly what is wrong with America today. Actually, though ... I'm curious why it never got made into a cover version by some punk band or something. I say that because at the time I ran across it, I'm listening to a punk cover of Kermit the Frogs' Rainbow Connection as done by Me First & the Gimme Gimmes.

Have heard an mp3 or two from them; good cover outfit. In fact, irreverant covers may be all that punk/wave ever did well. Would like to hear "Ups And Downs" by Paul Revere and the Raiders done by such a band. The whole approach could date from the Pistol's "My Way"... and remember "Green Haze", which combined the "Purple Haze" riff with the lyrics to "Green Acres"?...
